Pipe welding is the process of joining pipe, fittings, and flanges into a desired configuration. There are many methods for welding pipe joints including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal
Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Submerged Arc Welding (SMAW), and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding. Automatic welding and Orbital welding are used with some of these methods.
Consider the following:
- No matter what method or process you choose for pipe welding, you still must perform the initial Fit-Up and Tack-Weld for each joint!
- All other procedures Including Pipe End Prep, Cutting, Beveling, Grinding a Land, Cleaning, and Wire Brushing the Heat Affective Zone (HAZ) are similar for all pipe weld joints.
- Pipe Fitting is traditionally performed with 2 or 3 workers (a Pipe Fitter and / or a Pipe Welder with a Helper).
- The setup typically includes arrangement and adjustment of Pipe Jack Stands to support the pipe, fittings, and flanges in the desired Pipe Joint configuration.
- Usually Pipe Jack Stands, Levels, Squares, Two Hole Pins, Measuring Tape, Hammer, a Helper, and various other tools are used in the initial Fit-Up.
- The FIT RITE Precision Pipe Fitting System is set up one time in lieu of rearranging jack stands, leveling, aligning, squaring, and adjusting for each weld joint “Fit and Tack”.
- FIT RITE systems fixtures with Speedrails enhance the quick and precise alignment of pipe, fittings, and flanges into a static position for the initial “Fit and Tack”.
- FIT RITE systems fixtures keep flanges Two Holed, Aligned, and Perpendicular to the centerline of the pipe fitting joint during the “Fit and Tack” process.
- FIT RITE fixtures accommodate all sizes and schedules of welded pipe, fittings, and flanges.
- Both trainee and veteran pipefitter would find it extremely easy to make a fast accurate “Fit-Up” for pipe spool joints in any configuration.
- Pipe Fitting is conducted in about 25% of the time normally required using traditional methods. Please visit our website www.FitRiteFast.com
